WHAT IS
Pupil Premium
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’). Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel.
Although children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal, the school will only receive pupil premium funding if you have completed the application. If you believe that your child is entitled to a free school meal please see Mrs Davis or Mrs Cable in the school office or you can follow this link to download a form and apply online:
HOW WE MANAGE
Allocation of Funding
This academic year our 2025 – 26 pupil premium allocation of £185,643.28 will be used to support children based on the identified needs of this group of learners.
The pupil premium lead for the school is Mrs Wareham and the link governor is Mrs Challinor. Our three-year strategy feeds into the school development plan and is continually reviewed so further areas of support can be identified and positive gains made. Funding has predominantly been used to develop the quality of teaching and learning across the school and to target and support children and their families through intervention, precision teaching and parental support where a need is identified. These programmes are of an academic and nurturing nature. The pupil premium is also used to support the provision of enrichment opportunities for children at our school, this directly supports our curriculum vision: “Broad Horizons, Bright Futures”.
Identified needs from previous reviews, alongside arising needs at Longford Primary Academy are the focus of the next 3-year (2023 – 2026) pupil premium strategy. You can view this document below.
